With generous grants
obtained through NY State Senator Cesar Trunzo and NY State Assembly
member Patricia Eddington the club has been able to donate books and
films, with a focus on brain-related diseases and disabilities, to
the Patchogue-Medford Library. |

These items are
available for loan throughout New York State. Call your local
library to borrow these materials. |

Pilot International Foundation is a partner in this emergency
response mobile locater program, designed to find people who have
wandered off as a result of Dementia, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, or
any brain-related disorder. Handled through Sheriffs’ Departments,
people fitted with special locater bracelets can be found within 30
minutes from the time their disappearance is reported. Suffolk
County’s Sheriff’s Department has taken on this program; our club is
raising funds to help support this endeavor. The flag of Pilot
International flies above Project Lifesaver’s headquarters in
Virginia. |

Annually the club
supports the work of this agency which provides housing for
“throw-away / run-away” teen age girls. In addition to financial
support, the club members spend a evening at one of the residences,
providing dessert, conversation, and a craft program. |

Pilot International Foundation has developed a
program designed to educate the public about strategies for
protecting the brain. Our club uses the presentation geared to
children ages 4 to 6. |

The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives gathers and disseminates
information about the progress and promise of brain research. Our
club partners with that organization in observing the Alliance’s
“Brain Awareness Week”; materials provided by the Dana Alliance are
distributed at three area locations: Brookhaven Memorial Hospital
Medical Center, Patchogue-Medford Library, and South Country
Library. |
